About Shell Eco-marathon:

Shell Eco-marathon is a global academic program focused on energy optimization and one of the world’s leading student engineering competitions. The Texas A&M Shell Eco-marathon team was formed in 2018 and competes in the urban concept IC engine division. The competition is considered a Senior design project, which means that the team will  be working closely with a shell advisor to optimize the previous year's car.

Working with Shell:

As mentioned before, we work closely with a Shell advisor, and we meet biweekly to make sure the project is on the right track. Our advisor this year is Caitlyn Talbert, who is a Project Engineer working in Houston. In every biweekly meeting we work with Caitlyn to show her budget analysis, risk analysis, and validation plans to make sure we are reaching the goals of the project.

Main Takeaways:

Working closely with Shell introduced me to design processes followed in the industry, and also showed me how necessary project management skills are in order to be time and cost efficient.
